Marvell Semiconductor Alaska M Multi-Gigabit Ethernet PHYs are compatible with the NBASE-T Alliance specifications for 2.5G and 5G data rate over Cat5e cables. The Alaska M is manufactured using the 28nm process. The devices allow for lower cost designs with extremely low-power dissipation. The devices use Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for repurposing low-cost CAT5e Ethernet cables for data rates as high as 5Gbps. The devices supplant the use of optical technology for applications like 802.11ac Access Point backhaul, switches, servers, and more.
